Creating a “call to action” (button) link

You can draw attention to a link by applying the Button Link style to an existing link. Such a link is sometimes referred to as a “call to action”.

  1. Highlight the text you’d like to use for your button
  2. Click the Link the editor link button button in the toolbar.
  3. Type or paste the URL you wish to link to in the URL field and click 'OK'
  4. With the text still highlighted, select Button Link in the Styles menu

Pro Tip: When creating a button link as a call to action such as Read More, it is helpful to visitors using a screen reader to include additional context about the link, such as about our undergraduate programs. This text can be hidden using the Hidden Text style*, which hides the text from users with sight, but is still read by screen readers:

*Hiding text within a link

To hide text from users with sight, select the text you wish to hide then select the Hidden Text option from the Styles menu; this will be an option under Text Styles:
