Managing menus

Your site has a Main navigation menu — the primary, horizontal bar with dropdown menus, and a Secondary menu — which appears above or adjacent to the search box. You can edit and/or reorganize the items within these menus as well as the “child” menu items (submenus) beneath each.

Edit your Main navigation menu

  1. In the administration tool bar, select Structure > Menus > Main navigation
  2. Click Edit in the Operations column of the menu item you want to edit
  3. From here, you can change the title, path or parent link for the menu item
  4. Click Save at the bottom of the page

Rearrange the menu items

  1. In the administration tool bar, select Structure > Menus > Main navigation
  2. Find the menu item you want to move, and put your cursor on the crosshair icon to the left of its title
  3. Click and hold, then drag the menu item to the new location and release
  4. Click Save at the bottom of the page

Add a new menu item

  1. In the administration tool bar, select Structure > Menus > Main navigation
  2. Click Add Link
  3. Enter the menu item text
  4. Enter the menu item link
    1. For a link within the site, start typing the title of the desired page, and it will pop up in the widget. Select it.
    2. For an external link, enter the external URL (eg. https://www.duke.edu)
  5. Select where in the menu hierarchy you want the new menu item to appear using the Parent Link drop-down. Select the menu item under which the new link should be placed as a child item.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page

*Note: To edit or reorganize the Secondary menu, simply follow the same steps above, but replace Step 1 by going to the Secondary menu instead of the Main navigation menu.
