Create a conference and conference speakers

Not all sites are configured to display conference and conference speaker content. If you would like to start using this content type, please contact Trinity Communications for an initial consultation regarding how this could work with your site and where you want the content to be displayed.

Two content types are available for adding information about upcoming and past conferences: Conference and Conference speaker. The display of the former dynamically changes when the conference has past; for example, the location will remain, but its address will be removed.

The ‘Speaker(s)’ field of the Conference content type is an entity reference field from which nodes of the Conference speaker content type can be selected. It is an autocomplete, look-ahead field, which will present you with a list of items that match what you have entered as you type. For this reasons, the conference speaker nodes should be created prior to creating the conference node on which the ‘Speaker(s)’ field relies.

Creating a conference speaker

  1. Select Content ⇒ Add Content ⇒ Conference speaker from the admin menu
  2. Provide the following:
    • Display name (required),
    • Last name (required),
    • Job title,
    • Affiliation,
    • Image, and
    • Bio (required)
  3. Click Save

  1. Select Content ⇒ Add Content ⇒ Conference from the admin menu
  2. Provide the following:
    • Title (required),
    • Overview (required),
    • Dates (start and end; required),
    • Dates to be determined (a checkbox that will replace the required date field with “Conference dates to be determined”),
    • Agenda (only shows before the conference end date has passed),
    • Speakers(s),
    • Sponsor(s),
    • Logo/photo,
    • Location,
    • Address (only shows before the conference end date has passed),
    • Location link (only shows before the conference end date has passed),
    • Pre-conference information (only shows before the conference end date has passed),
    • Pre-conference materials (only shows before the conference end date has passed),
    • How to register (only shows before the conference end date has passed), and
    • Post conference deliverables (only shows after the conference end date has passed)
  3. Click Save

How to display

Two views are available to display this content on a page: one shows the current/upcoming conference, another shows a grid of past conferences. Each include the conference logo/photo, the conference title, and a link to the full content.
