Working with video

Video content can be added to your site provided your videos have been uploaded to either YouTube or Vimeo. Videos must include captioning, a requirement to meet Duke Web Accessibility Guidelines.

  1. Navigate to the page where you want to add a video.
  2. Click the Edit tab.
  3. Place the cursor in a rich text field (e.g. the Body field) where you want to add the video.
  4. Click the Embed Video button Embed video button.
  5. You can select an existing video that has been previously uploaded under the Library tab;
  6. OR you can add a new video under the Add New YouTube or Vimeo Video tab:
    1. Provide a name and the video URL. The optional Video Description field will only be shown as a caption under a video when it is used in a Video Gallery Paragraph.
    2. For vertical videos (e.g. YouTube Shorts), enable the Vertical Video option:
      vertical video toggle.
    3. Click Save Video, then click Next
  7. Select a display mode for your video. For standard (horizontal) videos, either Wide (full-width in the content area) or Medium (75% of the width of the content area) is appropriate. Vertical videos can also use Vertical Left or Vertical Right to wrap text around the video which will be aligned to the left or right, respectively.
  8. Save the change to the page by clicking Save.
