The following communication was distributed May 1, 2019 to our internal audiences.
Site Editors & Communicators,
As part of our commitment to provide you with an up-to-date, reliable platform for your website, we’re excited to let you know that we are beginning the initial stage of migrating our Trinity-supported sites to a new version of Drupal.
At this stage of the transition, there is no work required on your end. And during this transition, your websites will operate as usual without interruption.
Our move to the Drupal 8/9 platform is a major undertaking, involving a significant amount of time and resources to take our more than 120 sites to the platform. We expect to begin setting the groundwork for the migration later this month — which involves getting the overall structure in place — then begin re-launching our sites in Drupal 8/9 as early as this Fall. Naturally, with such a large number of sites to re-launch, completely migrating all of our sites to the new platform will not be completed until several months afterward.
During this initial stage in the project (throughout this summer), we will not be making any large-scale changes to any of our existing sites, nor will we be launching any new sites. We will, however, continue to offer support to you to help with any issues you are experiencing. Simply continue using the trinitywebsupport@duke.edu email, but please note that because of this project, our response time may not be as prompt as before.
We appreciate your patience as we begin this process to make your sites better, more feature-rich, and secure.
Thank you.
